Introduction
Hauptwerk is a piece of computer software that has been around for over ten years now. It serves as a host for detailed sound banks recorded from real world organs.
Highly realistic
These organs are super sampled, every note is recorded on every stop and more. You can find more details on the technology and the level of recording quality on Hauptwerk’s own website. While there are editions of Hauptwerk that you can buy, there is also a quite robust free edition that even comes with a traditional symphonic English organ from St Anne’s Church, Moseley, Birmingham. This, and a small sample of the different organs available on Hauptwerk are available to sample below. More organs and information is available at Milan Digital Audio and other organ sample set providers, both Amateur and Professional.
It’s worth taking a look into this system if you are looking for a realistic digital organ as when properly set up together with the right hardware and sound system, Hauptwerk offers a near unbeatable experience of real world organs in your own home.
Researching your own Hauptwerk System
There are a few steps involved in creating your own Hauptwerk organ. The console that you want to use with Hauptwerk can be completely bespoke and this is covered in the MIDI section of this site.
