Boasting 30W per channel as opposed to 25W per channel in the original Mk I, the rest of the specifications are the same with THD at 0.1% at the fully rated output but at 15W and under, the THD drops to 0.05% making this amplifier both reasonably powerful with reasonably high fidelity.
This amplifier has a useful feature of being able to bypass the tone controls completely at the flick of a switch which is not often found on mid-range units.
Unlike the SA-5500, this amplifier does not use integrated IC’s at the output stage and instead uses discrete components making this amplifier more serviceable if the worst should ever happen.
The amplifier has been fully rebuilt using brand new modern equivalent transistors throughout to maintain the amplifiers original tonal quality while making sure that the amplifier is in perfect condition and will continue to perform for years to come. The power lamp has also been replaced with a new LED type lamp meaning that the power lamp will likely never fail again.
All capacitors have also been replaced using high quality Nichicon and Panasonic capacitors designed for both long life and low ESR which helps to reduce noise in the amplifier circuitry. Audio path capacitors have been replaced with film types where possible and low leakage type capacitors used for larger values in critical sections of the circuitry.
All pots and switches have been cleaned and lubricated to ensure there are no unpleasant pops or crackles when switching between sources and filters.
Finally the amplifier has been deep cleaned inside and out and then the exterior has been polished to add protection and a subtle shine, bringing amplifier back to a brand new look.
Please study the photographs, there are no nasty scratches or marks on either the front or back of the amplifier.
The power cable has also been replaced with a 3-core earthed mains flex and new plug.
