Description
Here for sale is a fully restored Pioneer RT-707. A very sought after deck with some nice features and very high build quality.
The RT-707 is a 7″ open reel deck with auto-reverse and repeat. Using a special foil and the tape counter, you can set up a reel to repeat or simply just switch over to “Side B” without having to stop, move reels and rethread.
It also comes with Pitch control and two preset Biasing options for recording of your own reels.
It also uses three direct drive motors to run both reels and drive the capstan which gives excellent low wow and flutter specifications and high reliability. The only belt in this machine is for the tape counter and this one has been replaced.
In addition to this, the deck has been fully stripped down and given a very in depth restoration. This deck is unlike any other you will find on eBay.
- All mechanics stripped and re lubricated including auto-stop sensor.
- All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with Nichicon or Panasonic capacitors. High temperature variants are used to improve lifetime and Nichicon low noise capacitors have been used in the record pre-amp stages and playback amplifier stages.
- All noisy transistors have been replaced throughout with modern low noise equivalents.
- Solenoid control system has been stripped down with new non-conductive thermal compound applied to power transistors to reduce operating temperature. Capacitors on this section have also been up rated to better handle thermal conditions.
- Capstan servo fully rebuilt with new low noise film capacitors where appropriate and speed checked and set.
- Record, bias and power supply sections all rebuilt with new capacitors and fresh thermal compound applied to regulators to improve operating temperature.
- Playback and output circuitry rebuilt with new capacitors and transistors where necessary.
- Tape direction indicators converted to LED’s.
- Capstan and pinch roller redressed to restore grip and performance.
- Front panel deep clean and polish including all knobs and buttons. Metal case resprayed.
After all of this, the deck has then been calibrated and the head alignment checked. Then the record section was also checked and biased and has passed with flying colours with the ability to reproduce high frequency signals upwards of 15kHz with ease with a low noise high quality tape and in high speed.
Please study the photographs. As you will see, the deck is immaculate and is in great condition. You won’t find one in such good condition inside and out anywhere else.
Please note, the reels and tape are for illustrative purposes only and are not for sale – only the RT-707 is for sale.
This deck is 220/240V and is fitted with an IEC socket. If you would like a power cable to be supplied with the deck then please let me know.
I can ship the deck but I will insist on insurance. I would prefer, where possible, collection of the deck or I can deliver if required. Please enquire before purchase.
If you are overseas and wish to purchase this deck, please do contact me before purchase as international shipping will likely be significantly higher.
I have “Make an Offer” but RT-707’s can sell for £500+ in original unserviced condition so I believe the price I am asking is fair for a fresh RT-707.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me. I have more pictures if required.
